Ingredients & Sourcing
Eleven Ingredients, Each With a Purpose
No fillers, no emulsifiers, no water — just a concentrated blend of the most skin-compatible fats, botanicals, and pure essential oils available.
Grass-Fed Tallow Nourishing Base
The base and backbone. Rendered slowly from suet of pasture-raised cattle. Mimics skin's natural sebum for deep, biocompatible moisture.
Jojoba Oil Balances & Hydrates
Structurally the closest plant-based match to human sebum. Balances oil production and adds long-lasting moisture without greasiness.
Castor Oil Deep Conditioning
Thick, conditioning oil rich in ricinoleic acid. Enhances glide and helps the other oils penetrate more deeply, while holding moisture extremely well.
Rosehip Oil Renews & Brightens
Exceptionally high in vitamin A (natural retinoids) and essential fatty acids. Supports skin renewal and helps reduce redness and uneven tone.
Sweet Almond Oil Softens & Soothes
Light, softening emollient rich in oleic and linoleic acid. Soothes dry, irritated skin and fills small cracks in the skin barrier.
Argan Oil Smooths & Restores
Pressed from Moroccan argan kernels. High in vitamin E and squalene — exceptional for beard and facial conditioning with antibacterial support.
Beeswax Seals & Protects
Unrefined. Creates a light, breathable protective barrier. Locks in moisture without clogging pores and gives the balm its solid, workable texture.
Vitamin E Antioxidant Shield
Tocopherol. Natural antioxidant that protects the oil blend from oxidation, extends shelf life, and supports skin repair.
Patchouli Essential Oil Earthy Base
Deep, earthy, grounding base note. Traditionally used for its skin-balancing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Cedarwood Essential Oil Woody Middle
Warm, woody middle note with natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties; historically used to soothe irritated skin.
Spruce Essential Oil Fresh Top Note
Fresh forest top note that lifts the blend. Naturally clarifying and invigorating, with a clean outdoors finish.
Why grass-fed? Pasture-raised fat has significantly higher levels of CLA, omega-3s, and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K2 — in a natural, bioavailable form synthetics try to replicate.
How to Use
A Little Goes a Long Way
The balm warms quickly on contact and absorbs cleanly. Because it's concentrated and water-free, start with less than you think you need.
Scoop
Take a pea-sized amount with a fingertip or the back of your nail.
Warm
Rub between palms for 5–10 seconds until it melts into an oil.
Apply
Massage into face, hands, or target area in gentle circular motions.
Absorb
Allow 60–90 seconds to absorb before touching fabrics.
Best time to apply
Right after showering or washing while skin is still slightly damp, before bed for overnight repair, as a morning finishing step, or before and after shaving to soothe irritation.
Application by area
Face: use sparingly, focus on dry zones. Hands & knuckles: apply liberally, ideal overnight. Beard & lips: softens coarse hair, prevents chapping. Post-shave: reduces redness and razor burn. Body: a dime-sized amount for elbows, knees, and heels.
Storage & shelf life
Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Shelf life is about 1 year after opening, and longer kept unopened and cool. May soften in warm climates — this doesn't affect quality. No refrigeration needed.
The Science Behind Tallow
Why Tallow Works So Well
Human skin produces its own protective fat — sebum. Tallow's fatty acid composition closely mirrors it, dominated by the same oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids in similar ratios.
Deep Moisture
Penetrates the lipid barrier rather than coating the surface — moisturizing at the cellular level.
Barrier Repair
Replenishes the skin's natural protective lipid layer, especially after over-washing or harsh cleansers.
Anti-Inflammatory
Stearic acid and CLA have demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties in the skin.
Antioxidant Protection
Vitamins A, E and CLA help protect against free-radical damage.
Collagen Support
Vitamin A and saturated fats support the structural proteins in skin.
Non-Comedogenic
Despite being a fat, tallow's profile is so close to skin's own oils that it doesn't typically clog pores.
Patch test recommended for sensitive skin. Not recommended as a primary moisturizer for very oily or severely acne-prone skin without patch testing first. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.
